About
Hiroyasu Iwata is a Japanese robotics researcher whose work spans humanoid robotics, medical robotics, teleoperation systems, and human-robot interaction. He rose to prominence through his contributions to Waseda University's landmark humanoid robot projects, including the Hadaly-2 and WABIAN platforms — foundational systems in bipedal locomotion research that have accumulated over 110 citations and helped shape the global humanoid robotics landscape.
