Yasuyoshi Yokokohji is a prominent robotics researcher whose work spans teleoperation, space robotics, robotic assembly, and legged locomotion. He is perhaps best known for his pioneering contributions to bilateral teleoperation under significant communication delays, demonstrated through landmark experiments with the Engineering Test Satellite VII (ETS-VII) in 1999, where stable ground-to-space robot control was achieved despite a seven-second round-trip delay — work that has since accumulated over 200 citations. His research into free-flying space robots and multi-arm trajectory control further established his credentials in space robotics during the early 1990s.
