About
Susumu Tarao is a robotics researcher whose career spans foundational work in parallel mechanisms, motion simulation, and autonomous mobile systems. He made an early and lasting contribution to high-speed robotics with the development of the HEXA robot (1994), a six-degree-of-freedom parallel robot driven entirely by base-mounted actuators — a design celebrated for its speed and mechanical simplicity, and one that has accumulated 16 citations as a reference point in parallel mechanism research.
