About
Nasir Rajabi is a researcher whose work lies at the intersection of robotics, computer vision, and industrial automation. His key research areas include visual servoing, object tracking, and the integration of perception systems with robotic manipulators. Rajabi’s most cited work, "Visual object tracking by a camera mounted on a 6DOF industrial robot" (2005), presents a pioneering approach to real-time visual tracking using a Motoman UPJ industrial robot. In this study, he developed a look-and-move visual servoing module that enabled a robot-mounted camera to track a moving laser projection within a 2D workspace—a significant challenge given the robot’s non-accessible control architecture. This contribution demonstrated how closed-loop visual feedback could overcome the limitations of industrial controllers, laying groundwork for adaptive robotic systems in manufacturing and inspection. With 5 citations, this paper has informed subsequent research in vision-guided robotics. Rajabi’s work is notable for bridging theoretical control strategies with practical industrial constraints, offering valuable insights for engineers and researchers developing autonomous robotic systems for dynamic environments.
