Junaed Sattar is a pioneering roboticist whose career has been defined by his groundbreaking work in autonomous underwater robotics, human-robot interaction, and underwater computer vision. Best known for his foundational contributions to the AQUA project — an amphibious robot capable of swimming, walking, and open-sea operation — Sattar helped establish one of the most versatile aquatic robotic platforms in the field, with his early AQUA papers accumulating nearly 400 citations combined. His research has consistently pushed the boundaries of what autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) can perceive and accomplish, from diver-tracking algorithms that detect periodic motion in video to GAN-based image enhancement for murky underwater environments.
