About
Dr. Jose Benavides is a leading figure in space robotics and control systems, whose work is critical to the future of autonomous operations in microgravity. His primary research areas encompass intra-vehicular robot navigation, visual-inertial localization, and the development of interactive simulation environments for complex dynamical systems. Dr. Benavides’s most significant contribution is the creation of the first annotated benchmark datasets for free-flyer navigation, collected using the Astrobee robots aboard the International Space Station (ISS).
