About
Nobuhiro Chihara is a robotics researcher whose work bridges the gap between autonomous manipulation and real-world logistics. His primary research areas include mobile manipulation, robotic grasping, and 3D object recognition for industrial applications. Chihara’s most notable contribution is the development of a mobile dual-arm manipulation robot system equipped with universal vacuum grippers (UVGs) for stocking and disposing of items in convenience stores. This work, which has garnered 39 citations, introduced a novel grasping approach where the gripper’s surface adapts to various item shapes, paired with a selection algorithm to determine optimal single- or dual-arm use.
