Takashi Sagisaka is a pioneering roboticist whose research centers on soft robotics, tactile sensing, and safe human-robot interaction. His major contributions lie in developing robots with compliant, sensor-rich "flesh" that can safely and intelligently interact with humans and environments. His most influential work, "High-density conformable tactile sensing glove" (2011, 32 citations), introduced a branch-shaped tactile sensor sheet that enables detailed pressure mapping of the hand during object manipulation, advancing the understanding of human dexterity.
