About

Junyi Wei is a rising researcher at the forefront of medical robotics and intelligent perception systems. His primary research focuses on the magnetic actuation and precise localization of capsule robots for minimally invasive gastrointestinal diagnosis. Wei’s most significant contribution is the development of an adaptive magnetic levitation control system for capsule endoscopy, which addresses critical challenges in degrees-of-freedom, environmental adaptability, and system miniaturization. This work, published in 2022 and garnering 56 citations, proposes a novel electromagnetic coil architecture that enables more dexterous and stable motion control within the human stomach. Complementing this, he has pioneered a multi-layer fusion image enhancement method designed to improve visual odometry performance under poor visibility conditions—a technique with direct applications in robotic rescue and navigation. Additionally, Wei has advanced the field by introducing a real-time localization method for magnetic levitation capsule robots, which detects both position and orientation parameters to enable precise closed-loop control. Through these interconnected contributions, Wei is establishing himself as a key innovator in the convergence of electromagnetic actuation, computer vision, and medical robotics.
