About
Johannes Heidersberger is a roboticist whose research lies at the intersection of physical human-robot interaction, contact-rich manipulation, and shared autonomy. His work is driven by the challenge of enabling robots to perform complex, collaborative tasks—such as furniture co-manufacturing—that require both precision and safety. In his highly cited 2024 article, he introduced a novel framework combining variable impedance control with virtual potential fields to encode and reproduce skills from human demonstration, allowing robots to assist in assembly tasks with compliant, human-aware behavior.
