About

Zhigang Duan is pioneering the next generation of flexible electronics, with a focus on bio-inspired and high-performance sensors for wearable technology and human-machine interaction. His research centers on solving the fundamental trade-off between sensitivity and measurement range in flexible pressure and force sensors. In a landmark 2024 study, Duan introduced a flexible, wide-range multidimensional force sensor inspired by the structure of bones embedded in muscle, achieving a breakthrough in multi-directional force detection—a critical capability for soft robotics and personalized medicine. This work has already garnered 19 citations. Complementing this, he developed a piezoresistive pressure sensor using perpendicularly assembled oriented electrospinning nanofibers, which successfully delivers both high sensitivity and a wide measurement range while maintaining wearing comfort. With 13 citations since its 2024 publication, this work addresses a key challenge in wearable electronics.
