About
Xiaoxue Bi is a rising leader in flexible electronics and intelligent sensing, whose work is redefining how wearable devices perceive and interact with their environment. Her research centers on the design of high-performance tactile and pressure sensors, tackling the fundamental challenge of creating devices that are both exquisitely sensitive and mechanically robust. Bi’s major contributions include pioneering a perpendicularly assembled nanofiber architecture for piezoresistive sensors, achieving a wide measurement range without sacrificing comfort—a critical breakthrough for practical wearables. She has also engineered a novel flexible electromagnetic tactile sensor using double-layer MEMS coils and a tilted magnetic column array, enabling the discrimination of complex, multi-directional mechanical stimuli. Further expanding the field, her bionic tentacle sensor, inspired by biological structures, demonstrates high-sensitivity, multidimensional force detection for autonomous obstacle avoidance in soft robotics. With her most-cited works from 2024 already accumulating over 35 citations, Bi’s innovative, application-driven approach is rapidly establishing her as a key figure in the next generation of human-machine interfaces and intelligent robotic systems.
