Dr. Yoichiro Fukao is a pioneering roboticist whose work has fundamentally advanced the field of humanitarian demining. His primary research focuses on the development and control of specialized legged robots designed to operate in the extreme and dangerous environments of minefields. Dr. Fukao’s most significant contribution is the creation of the COMET series of mine detection robots, specifically COMET-II and COMET-III.
