About
Xiuze Xia is a leading researcher in the field of wearable robotics and rehabilitation engineering, with a primary focus on developing intelligent, adaptive exoskeletons for human motor recovery. His work bridges mechanical design, control theory, and neuromechanics to create devices that are not only portable and comfortable but also capable of delicate, independent joint actuation. Xia’s most significant contribution is the development of an untethered adaptive thumb exoskeleton, which directly addresses the critical role of thumb function—accounting for 40% of hand capability—in stroke rehabilitation. This work, garnering 52 citations, overcomes limitations in portability and adaptability that have hindered prior devices.
