About

Shota Isobe is a roboticist focused on making service robots truly useful in everyday human environments. His research lies at the intersection of human–robot interaction, spatial cognition, and autonomous planning. Isobe’s most cited work, a 2019 paper (45 citations), tackles a core challenge: enabling non-expert humans to intuitively collaborate with robots in dynamic settings like homes and retail stores. He developed a mixed reality system that augments human–robot interaction, allowing users to see the robot’s perceptual state and train it for service tasks without programming expertise.
