About

Mhd Yamen Saraiji is a pioneering researcher at the intersection of wearable robotics, human augmentation, and telepresence, whose work fundamentally challenges conventional boundaries of the human body. Best known for his groundbreaking MetaLimbs (145 citations) and MetaArms (132 citations) projects, Saraiji introduced the concept of body-remapping — expanding human physical capability by mapping robotic limbs to unconventional body controls, such as using leg movements to operate additional robotic arms. This work effectively gave users four functional arms, opening transformative possibilities in human-computer interaction and assistive technology. Beyond supernumerary robotics, Saraiji has made significant contributions to telepresence and full-body sharing, notably through his Fusion system (66 citations), which enables one person to inhabit another's body remotely for skill transfer and collaboration. His Naviarm project further extended this vision into augmented motor learning, while his early telexistence work demonstrated applications ranging from construction machinery to aerial drone systems. EncounteredLimbs brought his expertise into virtual reality haptics, enhancing immersive physical interaction. With research spanning over a decade and hundreds of citations, Saraiji's work consistently reimagines what human bodies can achieve through intelligent wearable systems.
