Marco Hutter is a leading figure in legged robotics, renowned for advancing the design and control of highly dynamic, compliant machines. His core research centers on creating robots that can traverse complex, unstructured terrain with speed and efficiency, fundamentally rethinking how robotic legs interact with the world. Hutter’s most significant contribution is the development of StarlETH, a compliant quadrupedal robot introduced in his seminal 2012 paper (234 citations).
