About
Lingfeng Zhu is a leading innovator in the field of flexible tactile sensing and electronic skin (e-skin) technology, with a research focus on developing advanced sensors for robotic grasping, human-machine interaction, and wearable health monitoring. Zhu’s major contributions include the creation of flexible tactile sensor arrays that enable distributed sensing and slip detection, significantly enhancing robotic hand dexterity and safety. Notable works include a liquid metal-based wearable sensor capable of simultaneously detecting temperature and contact force, and a fully elastomeric, fingerprint-shaped e-skin using graphene/silver nanocomposites for high-sensitivity, multifunctional haptic perception. Zhu also pioneered a large-area, hand-covering e-skin sensor with distributed multifunctional capabilities, addressing mutual interference challenges. With top-cited papers accumulating over 129 citations (e.g., the 2019 tactile sensor array) and 77 citations (the 2020 liquid metal sensor), Zhu’s research has achieved substantial impact, advancing the practical deployment of flexible sensors in intelligent robotics and prosthetics.
