About

David Apfelbaum is a pioneering researcher in multi-robot coordination, autonomous exploration, and robotic software architectures. His seminal 2000 paper on "Coordination for Multi-Robot Exploration and Mapping" (496 citations) introduced an on-line likelihood maximization approach for simultaneous mapping and exploration, enabling teams of robots to efficiently map unknown environments.
