Zi Hao Guo is pioneering the frontier of bioinspired soft electronics and human–robot interfaces, with a focus on artificial sensory systems that mimic nature’s most remarkable abilities. His research spans electroreception, triboelectric transducers, and iontronic materials, creating devices that can “feel” without touching. In his highly cited 2022 work (138 citations), Guo introduced bioinspired soft electroreceptors that replicate the remote sensing capabilities of sharks, enabling precontact somatosensation—a breakthrough for haptic feedback in robotics and prosthetics.
