Yasunori Yamada is a pioneering researcher at the intersection of robotics, neuroscience, and geriatric healthcare. His work is defined by two distinct yet innovative threads: understanding the neural-body coupling that enables animal locomotion, and developing non-invasive tools for early dementia detection. In his foundational 2011 study on a musculoskeletal quadruped robot with a spinobulbar model (42 citations), Yamada demonstrated how biologically realistic morphology and sensory feedback co-create emergent locomotion, offering a synthetic understanding of how body and nervous system interact.
