Takenori Morimitsu has pioneered the development of specialized mobile robots designed to operate in constrained and unconventional environments. His primary research areas focus on wire-suspended locomotion and micro-robotics within narrow spaces. Morimitsu’s most significant contribution is the design of a wire-suspended mobile robot capable of avoiding path obstacles, a concept detailed in his highly cited 1996 paper (30 citations). This work introduced a novel robot that “walks” along an aerial wire using a linkage-based leg mechanism, with a slider-crank system providing the necessary gait.
