Joshua Vander Hook is a roboticist and autonomy researcher whose work spans mobile robotics, informative path planning, and multi-agent systems across some of the most challenging operational environments imaginable — from frozen lakes to the surface of Mars. He is perhaps best known for his foundational contributions to autonomous sensor planning and active target localization, most visibly through his highly cited 2016 work on cooperative UAV-UGV systems for precision agriculture (509 citations), which introduced novel path planning formulations that have shaped the field.
