About

Hyowon Moon is a leading researcher in medical robotics and sensor-driven autonomous systems, with a focus on shape sensing and motion estimation. His pioneering work on fiber Bragg grating (FBG)-based polymer-molded shape sensors, published in 2015 and cited 16 times, introduced a flexible, lightweight alternative to conventional metal-rod-attached optical fibers, enabling precise curvature tracking for minimally invasive surgical robots.
