Cheng-Lin Chen is a pioneer in the development of ultra-lightweight flapping-wing micro air vehicles (MAVs), with a primary research focus on bio-inspired robotics, autonomous flight control, and system integration for sub-10-gram aerial platforms. His most notable contribution is the design and implementation of autopilot systems for robotic birds, exemplified by his highly cited 2012 work on the "Golden Snitch," a flapping-wing MAV weighing less than 10 grams.
