Bertram Rohrmoser is a pioneer in the development of autonomous service and industrial robotics, with a primary focus on creating machines that operate safely alongside humans. His most significant contribution is the design and implementation of a fully functional robotic road sweeper, based on the commercial KMR 1200 from Alfred Karcher GmbH. This work, which remains his most cited with 15 citations, details the complete hardware and software overhaul required to automate a heavy-duty municipal vehicle, establishing a foundational blueprint for autonomous cleaning systems. Rohrmoser further advanced the field of human-robot collaboration through his work on anthropomorphic robot assistants.
