A.J. Wilkinson is a robotics researcher whose career has been closely associated with the Robotics Research Unit at Hull University, where he pioneered work in one of manufacturing's most technically demanding domains: the automated handling and assembly of flexible fabric garments. His research addressed the fundamental challenges of robotic garment production, tackling problems ranging from ply separation and robotic sewing to complete assembly line automation for garments such as men's Y-fronts and ladies' briefs.
