Abstract
Robotics and the Internet of Things (IoT) have combined to completely transform the industrial sector and bring in a new age of intelligent, networked production systems. This chapter looks into the many advances and ramifications of IoT and robotics integration in the industrial sector. Through the integration of IoT sensing capabilities with robotics’ accuracy and flexibility, manufacturers have attained higher levels of productivity, efficiency, and automation. This chapter emphasizes the critical roles that artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data analytics play in streamlining production processes while highlighting the essential technologies and approaches that enable the smooth integration of IoT and robots. In addition to enabling real-time monitoring and control, the use of IoT-enabled sensors, actuators, and control systems in robotic applications has opened the door for predictive maintenance, which lowers downtime and increases overall equipment effectiveness. The research explores the effects of IoT-integrated robots on inventory control, quality assurance, and supply chain management. It clarifies how networked systems enable optimized logistics, just-in-time manufacturing, and improved product traceability. The ramifications of these developments for workforce dynamics are also covered, with a focus on the cooperative interaction between intelligent robotic systems and human workers and the enhancement, rather than the replacement, of human talents. The examination of case studies and industrial examples highlights the potential of IoT-integrated robotics to spur innovation and competitiveness in global manufacturing by providing verifiable proof of the real advantages and cost savings gained from its implementation.
