About
Zbigniew Nawrat is a pioneering Polish biomedical engineer and robotics researcher whose career has been defined by the development of surgical robotic systems, with a particular focus on minimally invasive and cardiac surgery. He is perhaps best known as a driving force behind the Robin Heart project — Poland's first indigenous cardiac surgical telemanipulator — which he began developing at the Foundation of Cardiac Surgery Development in Zabrze in 2000. Over two decades, Nawrat has documented Robin Heart's evolution from early prototype to a clinically tested platform capable of supporting multiple surgical disciplines, with key publications accumulating over 44 citations.
