About
Xiaoke Yin is a leading proteomics researcher whose work has fundamentally advanced our understanding of the vascular extracellular matrix (ECM) in health and disease. Her research centers on the molecular characterization of vascular tissues, with a particular focus on how ECM composition and remodeling drive pathologies such as abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA) and atherosclerosis. Yin’s landmark 2010 study on the proteomics of human aortic extracellular space (290 citations) provided the first comprehensive map of ECM components in the vessel wall, establishing a critical reference for the field. Her subsequent 2011 investigation into AAA (286 citations) revealed previously unrecognized ECM protein changes beyond the classic elastolysis and collagenolysis, offering new molecular targets for aneurysm diagnosis and therapy. Expanding beyond the ECM, Yin’s 2013 work on neutrophil microparticles (194 citations) uncovered unexpected proteomic and functional heterogeneity in these inflammatory mediators, linking them directly to vascular and inflammatory disease mechanisms.
