About
Ruikun Hu is a robotics and artificial intelligence researcher whose work centers on multi-robot coordination, pursuit-evasion game theory, and distributed control systems. His research tackles one of the most challenging problems in autonomous robotics: enabling multiple robots to cooperatively hunt, encircle, and capture multiple dynamic targets in complex, unpredictable environments. His most-cited contribution, "A New Scheme for Cooperative Hunting Tasks with Multiple Targets in Dynamic Environments" (2021, 12 citations), introduced innovative strategies for predator-prey coordination that have since influenced subsequent work in the field. Building on this foundation, Hu developed distributed competitive mechanisms — most notably the distributed multitarget k-winners-take-all (DMK-WTA) algorithm — which provides efficient, near-optimal task allocation for multi-robot pursuit scenarios with low computational overhead, as demonstrated in his 2024 paper (9 citations). His broader portfolio also extends to continuum robot control, where he applied model-free, Jacobian-estimation strategies for synchronous motion generation. Collectively, Hu's research advances scalable, decentralized solutions for autonomous multi-robot systems, with practical implications for search-and-rescue operations, autonomous defense systems, and intelligent swarm robotics.
