About
Mohamed Abou El-Ghar is a urological surgeon and researcher whose work bridges innovative surgical techniques and rigorous educational assessment. His primary research areas include minimally invasive urologic surgery and competency-based medical education. He is best known for his pioneering work in laparoscopic pyeloplasty, where his study on the integration of 3D vision laparoscopy and articulating shears—cited 22 times—demonstrated how advanced visualization and instrumentation can enhance surgical precision and outcomes for ureteropelvic junction obstruction. Beyond the operating room, Abou El-Ghar has made significant contributions to urology training through his comprehensive analysis of Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCEs) across four Canadian residency programs.
