About

Jingzhi Jia is pioneering the next generation of intelligent, biocompatible microrobots for targeted cancer therapy. His research lies at the critical intersection of soft robotics, magnetic actuation, and biomedical engineering, with a primary focus on developing hydrogel-based magnetic robots for active drug delivery. Jia’s most impactful work, a 2022 study on a multiscale magnetic hydrogel robot with a core–shell structure (22 citations), established a foundational platform for active, targeted delivery that is both biocompatible and biodegradable—addressing key clinical barriers. He further advanced this concept in 2025 by designing sodium alginate hydrogel robots loaded with mitomycin specifically for bladder cancer treatment (9 citations), offering a novel solution to the poor targeting and patient discomfort associated with conventional intravesical therapy.
