About
Caleb Peck is a researcher advancing the frontiers of autonomous navigation and robotic emulation for space exploration. His work centers on two critical areas: terrain relative navigation (TRN) for planetary landing, and hardware-in-the-loop testing of entry, descent, and landing (EDL) systems. In his 2023 paper on velocimeter LIDAR-informed TRN, Peck developed novel batch and sequential estimation approaches that leverage state-of-the-art velocimeter LIDAR sensors to deliver simultaneous three-dimensional relative position and velocity data. This contribution addresses a fundamental challenge in precision landing on unknown terrain.
