Abstract
STARA (smart technology, artificial intelligence, robotics and algorithms) technology is capable of replacing a broader variety of high-level skilled workers in non-routine cognitive tasks, not just low-skilled and unskilled human labor. STARA Awareness makes employees feel threatened by their work environment. This has an impact on the career goals of future. This research examines the effect of STARA awareness and job insecurity on turnover intention in profit-based organizations (companies) in East Java, Indonesia. East Java is the second largest economic contributor in Java Island in Indonesia. This study used the employees who work in profit-based-organization both state-owned-companies or private companies in East Java Province, Indonesia. To analyze the research data using Structural Equation Modeling- Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS) with SmartPLS software starting from validity and reliability tests, hypothesis testing, and mediation tests (indirect effects). This study is able to show that STARA Awareness has a significant effect on Job Insecurity and turnover intention in companies in East Java. However, STARA awareness does not have a significant effect on job satisfaction in companies in East Java, Indonesia. Job Insecurity has also been shown to have a significant effect on turnover intention and job satisfaction.
