Abstract

This survey highlights some important trends in AI research and development, focusing on perceiving and affecting the real world. It primarily addresses robotics, but does not imply that this is the only important area of AI research and development in the 21st century. It singles out for special mention one area that contributes centrally to all of these technologies, software development technology.
