Abstract
Technology is transforming the workplace, especially in the areas of automation, robotics, and artificial intelligence. Organizations are responding with an increasing use of new work arrangements such as gig work. In addition, more organizations are recognizing the importance of taking a strategic approach to managing human resources in which they seek to align their human resource systems with their business strategies and ensure that their human resource practices are internally consistent. Organizations that efficiently and effectively manage human resources by smartly leveraging technology can create an advantage that is difficult for competitors to imitate.
