Seewoo Kim is pioneering the frontier of soft robotics by bridging inorganic materials, stimuli-responsive polymers, and living biological systems. Their research centers on three transformative areas: nanomaterial-incorporated soft actuators, polymer-based artificial muscles, and biohybrid robots that integrate human tissue. Kim’s 2023 review on nanomaterial-incorporated soft actuators (16 citations) established a comprehensive framework for designing robots that blend synthetic and biological components. Their 2024 work on stimuli-responsive polymer actuators (10 citations) advanced film-forming polymers with exceptional sensitivity and flexibility, enabling more lifelike, adaptive movements in soft robots.
