About
Samratul Fuady is a robotics researcher whose work bridges multi-robot coordination and human-robot interaction. His primary research areas include distributed formation control, multi-robot systems, and telepresence robotics. In his highly cited 2013 paper, he designed a distributed formation control law using a consensus algorithm with displacement-based strategy, integrating obstacle avoidance for multi-robot systems. This work, along with his comparative experimental study of virtual structure approaches, has laid foundational groundwork in formation control, earning 6 and 4 citations respectively. Fuady also innovates in human-robot interaction, proposing an asymmetric teleconference system using a stuffed-toy avatar robot to enable natural conversation without virtual immersion. His overtaking behavior technique, inspired by pedestrian social force models, addresses single robot failure in formations. Beyond technical contributions, Fuady is committed to STEM education, having led a robotics workshop for students and teachers at SMPN 32 Muaro Jambi in 2023. His work demonstrates a unique blend of theoretical control algorithms, practical robotics applications, and community engagement, making him a notable figure in advancing both autonomous multi-robot systems and accessible human-robot interfaces.
