About

Muhammad Arrofiq is an Indonesian robotics and control systems researcher whose work spans intelligent mobile robot navigation, optimal control, and robotic kinematics. He is best known for his pioneering contributions to fuzzy logic-based control of mobile robots, particularly his highly cited 2010 studies on differential drive wheeled mobile robots (WMR) and non-holonomic mobile robot navigation. These works, accumulating 25 and 20 citations respectively, demonstrated how fuzzy logic techniques can effectively replicate human-like reasoning to enable real-time obstacle avoidance and autonomous navigation in unstructured environments — challenges central to modern robotics. Beyond fuzzy systems, Arrofiq has made notable contributions to classical and optimal control, including the mathematical modeling of wall-following robots using system identification techniques and PID tuning, as well as the application of Linear Quadratic Regulator (LQR) control to two-wheeled inverted pendulum robots — an inherently unstable, nonlinear platform.
