Lizhi Xu is a materials scientist and engineer whose research sits at the dynamic intersection of nanomaterials, soft robotics, and advanced composites. Best known for pioneering work in origami and kirigami nanocomposites, Xu has demonstrated how ancient paper-folding arts can inspire transformative engineering at the micro-, meso-, and nanoscales, producing materials with remarkable reconfigurability and multifunctionality — work that has garnered over 227 citations since its 2017 publication.
