About

Jordi Sort is a leading figure in the development of micro- and nanorobotics for biomedical applications, with a particular focus on magnetic actuation and smart materials. His research integrates materials science, electrochemistry, and robotics to create tiny, controllable devices for targeted drug delivery and fluidic manipulation. Among his most impactful contributions is the creation of hybrid helical magnetic microrobots (2013, 164 citations), which combine a CoNi alloy with polypyrrole via 3D template-assisted electrodeposition, enabling precise propulsion in fluid environments. He also pioneered biodegradable metal-organic framework-based microrobots, or MOFBOTs (2020, 129 citations), which address critical limitations in drug delivery by offering high drug loading and degradability.
