Deniz Özsoyeller is a leading researcher in multi-agent coordination and search theory, with a primary focus on the rendezvous search problem—the challenge of enabling autonomous robots to meet efficiently when they have no prior knowledge of each other’s locations. Her work has fundamentally advanced both symmetric and asynchronous rendezvous strategies in increasingly complex environments. In her highly cited 2013 paper, she introduced a novel algorithm for symmetric rendezvous on a line with an unknown initial distance, laying the groundwork for subsequent breakthroughs.
