Bayu Jayawardhana is a control systems and robotics researcher whose work spans nonlinear control theory, multi-agent systems, and smart sensing technologies. He is perhaps best known for his foundational contribution to safety-critical control, having co-developed the Control Lyapunov–Barrier Function framework in 2016—a method for simultaneously guaranteeing stability and safety in nonlinear systems that has since accumulated over 329 citations and become a cornerstone reference in the field.
