About

Anu Jacob is a pioneering figure in the integration of advanced medical technologies for minimally invasive surgery. His key research areas center on the fusion of intra-operative imaging, navigation, and robotics within sterile surgical suites. Jacob’s major contribution lies in demonstrating that the seamless integration of CT, angiography, and robotic systems is an enabling prerequisite for breakthroughs in complex procedures. He was among the first to perform robotically assisted CT-based clinical punctures, successfully treating bone and soft-tissue interventions, as well as closed reductions of pelvic fractures. His foundational 2007 paper on multifunctional sterile suites (17 citations) and his work on robotic CT procedures (10 citations) have laid the groundwork for modern image-guided surgery. By proving the clinical viability of these integrated systems, Jacob has directly influenced the evolution of emergency and minimally invasive diagnosis and therapy, establishing a new standard for precision and reliability in the operating room.
