Dr. A. L. A. Bloemendaal is a pioneering surgeon and researcher whose work sits at the intersection of robotic surgery, surgical simulation, and complex abdominal wall reconstruction. A key focus is democratizing surgical training: Dr. Bloemendaal led the development and validation of the PoLaRS (Portable Virtual Reality Training System for Robotic Surgery), a low-cost, portable simulator designed to make robotic skills acquisition accessible worldwide.
