About
Steven R. Lindheim is a leading figure in reproductive endocrinology and infertility (REI), with a research focus on complex uterine anomalies, fertility preservation, and surgical education. His work has significantly advanced the understanding and management of rare Müllerian anomalies, particularly the unicornuate uterus with a noncommunicating functional horn, where he has challenged traditional classification and treatment paradigms through detailed case analyses and cautionary guidance on surgical reunification (19 citations). Lindheim has also been instrumental in refining the diagnosis and management of interstitial pregnancies—a high-risk ectopic pregnancy variant—and in advocating for ovarian tissue cryopreservation and transplantation, identifying critical advances needed to move this fertility preservation modality beyond experimental status (12 citations). His contributions extend to surgical innovation, including metroplasty for chronic pelvic pain from outflow tract anomalies, and to educational reform, where he demonstrated that surgical boot camps significantly improve laparoscopic skills among REI fellows. With a career spanning over 20 years, Lindheim has authored numerous high-impact papers and serves as a professor at Wright State University, shaping the next generation of reproductive surgeons.
