Development of a Control System for Autonomous Mobile Robots: a Literature Review

Abstract
Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs) are currently employed in various fields, including manufacturing, warehousing, hospitals, and terminals, thanks to their advanced hardware and control software, which allows them to operate independently in complex environments. In contrast to an Automatic Guided Vehicle (AGV), where the unit manages the routing, planning, and dispatching for all AMRs, AGVs can negotiate and communicate independently with multiple sources, leading to decentralized decision-making for vehicles and buildings. These unique features have spurred traditional decision-making techniques to incorporate and adapt to AMRs. This review identifies and categorizes studies related to AMR planning and management in intralogistics, focusing on the impact of technological advancements on planning and choice management. We aim to enhance the literature by including AMR development plans and modifying manual managers’ decision-making models to achieve better outcomes.
