Abstract
This paper presents proposal for low-cost electronic equipment architecture for urban search and rescue (USAR) robot. Article discusses the importance of robotics applications for rescue operations and presents a list of required features for an USAR robot in order for it to be successful during search and rescue missions. Article is focused on achieving low cost, maintainability, reliability and robustness through extensive utilization of ubiquitous “off the shelf” electronic components. In the article author proposes the extensive utilization of readily available smartphone devices that can cover the majority of required functionality.
