Abstract

The paper focuses on the manufacturing technology\nof modular components for large-area tactile sensors, which are\nmade of arrays of polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) piezoelectric\npolymer taxels integrated on flexible PCBs. PVDF transducers\nwere chosen for the high electromechanical transduction\nfrequency bandwidth (up to 1 kHz for the given application).\nPatterned electrodes were inkjet printed on the PVDF film.\nExperimental tests on skin module prototypes demonstrate the\nfeasibility of the proposed approach and reveal the potentiality\nto build large area flexible and conformable robotic skin
